Kayser Family Portraits

This past Sunday afternoon I had the pleasure of doing a mini shoot (30 minutes) for a family that came by my booth at the Indian Trail Family Fun Day. The little boy, Ayden, was very cooperative.. even brought some friends (buzz & woody) that got to help me take the photos! His little sister, Ava, wasn't as happy to see me.. but I still managed to get some photos with her looking in my direction! :)
Enjoy...

Amanda Lee...

My baby sister just turned 17.. I'm both joyful and saddened by this.
I remember everything about the day she was born.. it was exactly one week before my own birthday. I would be ten that year.. my Mom & Dad didn't find out the gender of the baby, and my Mother was sure she was having a boy. She even painted her room blue! She had several boy names picked out.. no girl names. I on the other hand, being an almost ten year old girl, longed for a sister. I always wished I had siblings growing up and there was no doubt in my mind I would have a sister.

The morning of November 11th, 1993, I had off from school.. Veterans Day! So when my Mother came to my room that morning to wake me (I assumed for school) I wasn't happy.. then she said, "it's time to go to the hospital". I don't think I could have been more excited. We all got in the car.. my Dad ran every red light on the way to the hospital (classic story, I know) and I prepared for my role as big sister by calling family members from the waiting room phone.

My Mother gave birth at 7:38am to my baby SISTER! I jumped and screamed when my Daddy told me. I even got to name her because they had no girl names picked! In the years since, we haven't always gotten along.. we are ten years apart, after all.. often times I've felt more like a Mother to her than a sister. But that's never affected the fact that I love her more than she'll ever know.

Moving on.. this past week she went to homecoming.. as a junior! I got the pleasure of helping her get ready.. hair, makeup, etc.. and then got to snap a few quick photos of her before her date picked her up. Here ya go Amanda.. I love you!

Falling for Ryan Fall Festival - November 13th, 2010

Saturday, November 13th was our Falling for Ryan Festival..
Something a friend of mine (Crissy) and I thought up last year when another friend of ours
gave birth to her son, Ryan, and he was diagnosed with CHARGE Syndrome. We wanted to do this festival last November, but we didn't have enough time to get things underway. As it turns out, God was with us on the timing, because us waiting until this year helped out tremendously. We were able to get tons of raffle prizes donated, the location donated, 80lbs of BBQ and fixins, hot dogs, drinks, dj services.. all donated! We came out of pocket very little and while we didn't have a huge crowd, we were still able to raise a nice chunk of money for our friends. On top of that.. we were able to raise awareness for this very rare genetic syndrome. Many of our friends and family members came out to support this family and this cause. We can't say thank you enough to everyone who volunteered their time, services, facebook status', etc and those who came out to spend an afternoon with us.. I hope everyone had a great day.

While I didn't get to walk around and take pictures of the event, I did have a booth set up for quick family snapshots. Thank you to the families below for supporting The Lane's!

Meet Mike, Kim & Ryan Lane!
